When life hands you lemons, make lemonade. That is what Blake and I decided to do with a bag of bruised apples. Instead of turning them to lemonade, we made a batch of delicious dried apples.
One Saturday in February, everything seemed to go wrong for us, despite it being a BEAUTIFUL day. We were a little restless and thought it would be fun to go on a bike ride. But when we got to the bike rental place, they were all sold out. So then we decided to go to this cute little fruit stand down the road only to find that the apples had been in storage for a while and were all bruised.
At that point, we were already at the checkout and it would have been awkward to walk away…so when life gives you lemons, you make lemonade or in this case, dried apples. We went to an outdoor tennis court where I spent most of the time chasing balls and then headed home to dry our bruised apples.
Once we washed our apples, we cut them using our apple core cutter and then got them ready for the lemon water.
We placed the apples in some water that had about 2 teaspoons of lemon juice in it. We let them soak for a bit and then laid them out to sprinkle cinnamon on them.
Finally, we put them in our dehydrator and left them alone for several hours. When they were done, they tasted delicious! So, our Saturday turned out to be a success!
